
Environmental Tools to Achieve Sustainable Development
An Environmental Impact Assessment(EIA) is considered as an inevitable aspect for the development of deep-sea mining. In a Japanese project of the Cross-ministerial Strategic Innovation Promotion program (SIP), the techniques of EIA for deep-sea has been developed, which will soon be approved as an International Standard by the ISO. The capacity building is aimed to improve knowledge and skills of researchers and engineers through this course. Attendees shall improve their competencies in conducting the environmental monitoring surveys in their Territorial and international waters that protects the irreplaceable sea and life.
